Search for the Lost RealmQ: Thank you so much for this interview, Kraig!  Can you tell us where you are from?

I am from a very small town in upstate New York called Canton.

Q: How did you come up with your title?

I was roll playing in a world that had seven realms and only six of them were known, too the players. No one knew what the seventh realm was so the title came to be when I decided to write a story about it.

Q: They say you can judge a book by its cover.  Can you tell us a little about your cover and who designed it?

The cover is a scene in the book and it depicts the main character. I worked with Jeremy Mohler on the cover, an artist with work for Marvel Comics to his credit.

Q: Can you tell us something about your book that would make me run out and buy it?

This book has races of beings not scene before and in this market, that in itself is a rarity.

Q: Are there any messages in this book that you want the reader to know about?

The story has religious undertones. The realms in this story are religions ranging from magic, to demonic, to the righteous. It doesn’t overwhelm in this area but the religions closely resemble some of today’s religions and they show the paths that people travel.

Q: What was your most favorite chapter to write and why?

That is almost impossible to answer. Each chapter has its ups and downs and to be honest, without reading it for the hundredth and one time, I can’t really remember what happens when.

Q: Why did you feel you had to write this book?

I felt the need to give back to the entertainment world, which I have benefited from for many years. I knew I had what it took to do this and I wil continue to do this for many years to come.

Q:  Now, some fun questions – What deep dark secret would you like to share with us?

I don’t see any conclusive way to benefit from reveling a dark secret but I’m sure my closet is bulging at the seams.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I have been to Ireland and England and enjoyed both greatly. These areas are rich in the history that fantasy evolves from. I would love to get back to both places for inspiration as well as Scotland. The castles and grounds as well as their history intrigue me. There are many other parts of the world I wish to see but these are at the top of my list.

Q: Are you a morning person or a night person?

I am a night person, no doubt. I have always considered the night my tranquility time for the world slows to a crawl and I don’t look that great in the light.

Q: Are there any members in your family who also like to write?

I am the first. My family line consists of hard working laborers and although I have done my fair share, I felt it was time to change the legacy of the Dafoe clan.

Q: As a child, were you a dreamer?

I have always been a dreamer. As a young teen I read a book a day and I always became a character in the story. I used to put on music and rock in a chair replaying episodes of my favorite shows at the time replacing the characters with myself or joining them on their adventure. My imagination has worked overtime for years and if I could retire on that alone, I would be living large on my own island.

Q: Last but not least, the magic genie has granted you one wish.  What would that be?

My wish would be for peace and harmony throughout the world. I know that sounds like I’m a pageant contestant but really, why be selfish. I want success and nice things but these won’t define me. I want people to be happy so the events that make the news on a regular basis would cease to exist.

Q: Thank you so much for this interview! Do you have any final words?

Yes, please check out my site, follow my blog and buy Search for the Lost Realm so I can feed my children. Just kidding, they can get their own food.
